Branded App: FAQs

First you'll design your app (including its name, logo, look and feel) from the Branded App dashboard in your Wix account. Once your app is designed you can preview it for free on your mobile device. If you like the way it works, purchase a Branded App plan and follow the steps to publish your app on the Google Play and App Store.

Branded App by Wix is a native app, which means it's built with the native language of the device it's installed on. This allows for a smoother user experience.

No, your branded app will be available in addition to the mobile version of your website. Branded App by Wix is a fully native mobile app that can be downloaded from app stores. Members accessing your site from a mobile browser can still view the mobile version.

Your app is linked to your site dashboard. That means any changes or edits you make on the dashboard are reflected in your branded app. This includes adding items to your online store, new bookings or services, or creating new blog posts. 

However, any content or design changes you make directly from the Editor won't affect your app's design.

The Branded App dashboard is located in your Wix account. Click the Start Now button to start creating your app. Go to the Branded App dashboard now.

After you've designed your app in the Branded App dashboard, you'll follow the steps to open both an Apple and Google developer account. This process is done on Apple and Google's side and can take a few business days to be approved.

Once your account is approved, you'll finish registering your app from the Branded App dashboard and submit your app to Wix for approval. Once that's submitted, we'll submit it to the relevant app stores.

You can change the default language of your branded app. Your members can still choose their preferred language from their member profiles. Learn how to change your app's language in Step 2 of this article. 

Note: Branded App by Wix does not currently support multilingual.

If you're using an existing Wix member app to communicate with your members (Spaces by Wix, Fit by Wix or Dine by Wix), there's no migration required.

Your members will get a notification in their app asking them to download your new branded app. Learn how to switch your preferred member app.

Currently you must register your app in both stores.

The main difference between your branded app and Spaces by Wix is that a branded app has no Wix branding and is only for your business and community. Your members download your app directly from the App Store and Google Play rather than downloading a Wix app and engaging with your site from there.

Branded App by Wix is available in the following languages:

Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish and Ukrainian. 

No, Branded App by Wix requires an online connection. Currently it is not possible to use the app offline and then have the content sync once the device is online again.

No, the plan does not include the registration fees and you must pay those separately. Apple's App Store membership fees start at $99 USD a year, and Google Play is a $25 USD one-time fee.

You can get a full refund within the first 30 days of purchasing a subscription.

After your app is live, if you decide to cancel your subscription Wix automatically removes your app from the app stores. If your members try to use the app they will be notified that the app is no longer available for use.

Yes. After you purchase a Branded App plan, it is possible to assign it to another site in your account.

Yes. Since your branded app is connected to a Wix site, you can change ownership by transferring the premium site associated with your branded app to another Wix account. Learn how to transfer a premium site to another account. 

The approval process varies from platform to platform and Wix has no control over the timeline.

As part of the Branded App plan, Wix takes care of your app's submission to the stores as well as the app's maintenance and compliance with any new policies. During this process you may receive emails from Apple and Google. These emails require no action from you.

If your application does not pass Apple or Google's review, Wix gets notified. We'll then inform you why your app has not been approved and ask you to make the necessary changes.

Once you've made the changes, you will have to resubmit your app to Wix for approval, and then again to Apple and Google. Learn how to resubmit your app.

Once your app is live, we make sure it stays current by updating it when necessary.

After your app is live, if you decide to cancel your subscription, Wix automatically removes your app from the app store listings. 

If you want to build another Branded App, purchase a Branded App plan and follow the steps to publish your app on the Google Play and App Store.

If your members try to use the app they will be notified that the app is no longer available for use.

You can get a full refund within the first 30 days of purchasing a subscription. To get the refund, cancel your plan from Premium Subscriptions in your Wix account. Learn more about the Wix refund policy.

Your Apple Developer Account or Google Developer Account information will be saved in case you want to relist your Branded App at any stage. If you wish to relist your Branded App, you can re-purchase a Branded App plan to get it back in the app stores. 

If you change your mind about canceling your Branded App, or canceled it in error, you can contact customer care for support and they can help you relist it. 

Note: Branded Apps remain listed for 2-3 days after cancelation.
